Building Equitable International Collaboration

Partnership between University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, UK, and Presidency University (PU), Bangalore, India

Facilitated by: Cormack Consultancy Group

The partnership between UWE and PU is a powerful example of how equitable international collaborations can enhance institutional capacity, provide students with transformative opportunities, and foster sustainable cross-border cooperation. Facilitated by Cormack Consultancy Group, this collaboration reflects a shared commitment to creating meaningful and mutually beneficial outcomes for both institutions.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the two universities have agreed on several key initiatives. These include the development of dual-degree programs that enable students to earn qualifications from both institutions and the establishment of an equitable fund. This fund allocates certain percentage of tuition fees paid by PU students at UWE to support mutually agreed educational projects, ensuring a reinvestment in shared priorities. The MOU also promotes student and staff exchanges, enabling semester-based programs and teaching assignments that foster cultural and academic exchange. Additionally, the partnership supports collaborative research projects, conferences, and tailored semester programs designed to meet the specific needs of students.

This collaboration intends to significantly impact both institutions. By sharing expertise and resources, UWE and PU will beenhancing their global profiles and strengthening their operational capacities. PU will benefit from exposure to UWE’s well-established systems for transnational education, while UWE is gaining deeper engagement with India’s higher education landscape.

The partnership also brings life-changing opportunities for students. Participants gain valuable international exposure, improving their employability and expanding their perspectives. Through dual degrees, cross-border exchanges, and collaborative projects, students acquire critical competencies such as cross-cultural communication, research, and leadership skills, positioning them for global success.

At the heart of this partnership is a commitment to sustainability and equity. The equitable fund ensures that both institutions contribute to and benefit from projects that promote inclusivity and long-term impact.

Cormack Consultancy Group (CCG) played a crucial role in facilitating this collaboration. By identifying and connecting UWE and PU, aligning their shared goals, and guiding them through the negotiation process, CCG ensured a smooth and equitable agreement. Furthermore, CCG will continue to support the implementation of the MOU.

This case study highlights the importance of equitable international collaboration in building institutional strength and enriching student opportunities. For more information about partnering with Cormack Consultancy Group, please contact Dr Anzhela Stashchak at anzhela@consultcormack.com
